Computer Science Summer Camps
The Computer Science Department is hosting free summer camps in June and July, focused on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
These camps are:
- Open to rising 6th–12th grade students
- Beginner-friendly — no prior experience is required
Students will engage in hands-on activities, learn from UTEP CS mentors, and explore exciting topics in computing and technology.
📍 Camps will be held at UTEP
CyberCamp
Students will receive 40 hours of FREE cybersecurity training led by UTEP cybersecurity students and based on curriculum provided by the Air Force Association (AFA) CyberPatriot Program.
Throughout the camp, participants will learn essential cybersecurity skills through engaging, hands-on activities. At the end of the week, students will test their skills by competing in a friendly challenge that reinforces the knowledge gained.
The AFA CyberCamp experience also prepares students for participation in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition taking place this fall. CyberPatriot is the Air Force Association's National Youth Cyber Education Program, created to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.
BENEFITS
- Gain new cybersecurity knowledge and skills!
- AFA Cyber Camp experience which can be placed on college applications!
- Opportunity to compete nationwide for scholarships.
Each camp consists of two weeks. During the first week, students will learn beginner cybersecurity skills, and those who complete week one will transition to the second week to learn advanced skills.
